About the Company
Our client is a privately held real estate investment and construction platform based in Dallas, TX. The firm operates across development, acquisitions, and project delivery, with exposure to multiple asset classes including multifamily, mixed-use, commercial, and ground-up construction.
The business is entrepreneurial, well-capitalized, and execution-focused, with leadership directly involved in investment decisions and project oversight. With an active pipeline and growth trajectory, they are building scalable infrastructure to support long-term portfolio expansion.
About the Role
The Controller will own the full accounting function across real estate investment, development, and construction entities. This role requires strong financial leadership, multi-entity reporting experience, and the ability to build scalable systems and processes to support continued growth.
You will work closely with executive leadership, asset management, construction teams, lenders, and external advisors.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee the full accounting function across real estate and construction entities

Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes

Prepare and review consolidated financial statements

Maintain GAAP compliance and consistent accounting policies

Oversee property-level and project-level accounting across multiple asset classes

Manage development and construction accounting including draws, capital calls, job cost tracking, and budget-to-actual reporting

Partner with project management and asset management on cost control and performance analysis

Support acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing, and lender reporting requirements

Coordinate tax filings, K-1s, and compliance with external advisors

Lead audit processes and lender reviews

Strengthen internal controls and financial reporting procedures

Oversee accounting systems (Yardi, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and implement process improvements

Mentor and manage accounting staff or third-party providers
Qualifications
-
7–12+ years of accounting experience, including leadership experience in a Controller or senior accounting role

Strong background in real estate investment, development, and/or construction accounting

Experience with multi-entity reporting and job cost accounting

Working knowledge of GAAP; fund and investor reporting exposure preferred

CPA strongly preferred

Comfortable working in a lean, fast-paced environment

Strong communication skills with ability to partner directly with executive leadership
