About the Role
VDC Manager | Plumbing | BIM and Field Integration | Texas
$140,000 - $175,000 base salary plus profit sharing
Blayze Group is partnering with a leading specialty plumbing contractor to appoint a VDC Manager supporting complex commercial and institutional projects across Texas. This is a senior technical leadership role requiring a rare combination of hands on field plumbing experience and advanced BIM and VDC capability.
The business delivers large scale, coordination intensive projects where constructability, prefabrication, and installation efficiency directly impact profitability. This position sits at the center of project execution, owning the BIM, layout, and prefabrication workflow from early coordination through field installation and closeout.
This role is not purely digital. Credibility in the field is essential.
The Role:
- Lead and manage BIM detailers, setting priorities aligned with project schedules and field needs
- Own BIM model accuracy, coordination, and constructability before release to the field or coordination meetings
- Enforce internal BIM quality standards and prevent avoidable clashes from reaching coordination forums
- Optimize system routing for cost effectiveness, labor efficiency, and installation sequencing
- Represent the contractor in BIM coordination meetings with general contractors and trade partners
- Support Project Managers with RFIs, constructability solutions, change management, and BOM development
- Oversee shop drawings, spool drawings, and model driven prefabrication workflows
- Ensure timely and accurate distribution of updated models and drawings to field teams
- Coordinate layout workflows including robotic total stations, control points, and export files
- Provide direct field support through site visits, troubleshooting, and installation guidance
- Drive continuous improvement across BIM processes, fabrication databases, and VDC standards
Background Sought:
- Proven hands on plumbing field experience
- Advanced BIM and VDC expertise, including Revit based fabrication modeling
- Strong understanding of constructability, sequencing, and means and methods
- Experience supporting prefabrication and model driven installation workflows
- Ability to communicate effectively with field leadership, project management, and external partners
- Demonstrated leadership capability within a BIM or VDC function
Candidates with BIM experience but no real field plumbing background should not expect alignment.
Why This Opportunity:
This is a critical leadership position within a contractor that treats BIM as a production tool, not a presentation exercise. The role offers high visibility, influence over how projects are built, and direct impact on operational performance. For VDC professionals who have lived in the field and can translate models into successful installations, this role offers long term stability, authority, and compensation aligned with the level of responsibility.
Client details will be shared during later stages of the process.
If you are a plumbing focused VDC leader with real world field credibility, please submit your resume for consideration.
Relocation expense reimbursement plus relocation bonus to be offered for the right person.
